The Japanese Shaker consists of a cup body, ice strainer, and lid. The ice strainer and lid create a sealed space, allowing for a finer mixing of beverages during shaking. It is commonly used for crafting cocktails, but it can also be used to prepare Shakerato. The Shakerato is made with ice and an espresso shot; when shaken, it creates a frothy surface on the espresso. Typically, Caffè Shakerato is served in a martini glass.
