Origin Introduction
This coffee is sourced from the processing station in Tebe Haro Wato, located in the Guji region of southern Oromia, Ethiopia, at an altitude of 2230-2280 meters. The cool temperatures in this region are ideal for the slow maturation of coffee cherries, resulting in denser, sweeter, and more complex beans.
The harvest season runs from late November to late January of the following year. After picking, the cherries are sent to the local mill, Harro Zenash, for processing. Using special screens, the cherries are hand-selected to ensure that only the most ripe and flawless cherries are chosen. The cherries are turned throughout the day to ensure even drying in the sun.
Coffee species 74110 and 74112 are common in that local area and were developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) in the 1970s to resist coffee berry disease.
2023 TOH Sun Drying Group Champion
This coffee comes from the champion farm of the ‘2023 African Sun Drying Group”, hosted by the African Fine Coffee Association (AFCA). It was scored according to the standards of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and Q Graders, collecting 250 samples from all African countries and gradually selecting high-quality raw beans, which were then scored by global judges. The highest-scoring coffee became the national champion for the year
Design Concept
The passionate and bright sunflower embodies hopes and aspirations for the future, blooming radiantly under the sun. We infuse our determination for dreams into the coffee beans, allowing the sunrise-like hope to spread from the palate to the hearts of all who taste the coffee.
The packaging is inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting series—Sunflowers—and features the fresh and sweet fruit notes of pineapple, apple, and cherimoya, presenting our vision of vibrancy and beauty.
